Buck Clayton was Count Basie’s star trumpeter in the 1930’s and went on to be a fine bandleader and arranger in his own right. In the 1980’s, bandleader and broadcaster Alyn, published Buck’s life story. In return, shortly before his death in 1991, the trumpeter gave Alyn a collection of original compositions that had never been recorded, with the request to keep the music alive after his death. As a result Alyn formed the Legacy Band in 2004 which has continued to present acclaimed performances in Europe and throughout the U.K.
